What should I wear and bring to my rotations during my clerkship?
- Dress professionally and wear your white coat
- Scrubs are allowed during the week of Neurosurgery
- Near Card
- Penlight
- Ophthalmoscope (although available, useful to have your own on the first day)
- Reflex hammer
- Tuning fork (a large 128 Hz)
- Safety pins or wooden Q-tips
How am I graded in the Neuroscience Clerkship?
The grading breakdown is listed in the clerkship syllabus. Please refer any additional questions to the Clerkship Coordinator.
Where do I put my passport?
- You should keep your passport with you during your daily assignments to as a reminder and to promptly track clinical experiences, supervision and call.
- Passports are to be handed to the clerkship coordinator at the final exam.

What do I do if I can't make it to my shift?
Attendance is mandatory for all shifts. If a student is ill or has a personal emergency, they should contact the coordinator, as well as the attending and resident physicians with whom he or she is working.
Should I ask the attendings and residents I work with for feedback?
Yes, it is great to ask for feedback! At the beginning of each rotation, ask for expectations and then ask at the end of each week for feedback on ways to improve. Be specific with your questions, such as "is my chief complaint written adequately?" or "am I being concise enough with my presentations?" or "am I doing this exam correctly?"
