Neurodegenerative Disorders Center

Studying and treating Alzheimer’s, Frontotemporal, Parkinson’s, Lewy Body, Vascular and other dementias

We identify, stimulate and expedite innovative clinical and translational research with the goal of improving brain health.

Our Center

The Neurodegenerative Disorders Center provides assessment and innovative treatment for patients with Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia, Parkinson’s disease and other related conditions.

Our physicians are uniquely qualified in diagnosis and treatment and patients benefit from the advanced resources of an academic medical university. As part of the Upstate Neurological Institute, physician-faculty also have a strong base for research studies, education and clinical trials for these conditions.

Built upon these clinical strengths, the Neurodegenerative Disorders Center is designed to incorporate all aspects of modern neuroscience to foster cutting-edge patient care, translational research and innovation to improve the lives of individuals with neurological disorders that impair behavior and cognition.

The Center also plans to expand existing research to establish the SUNY Upstate Translational Neuroscience Network to bring together leaders in neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, neuroscience and other experts to create essential therapies for patients. Clinical and research teams across the university will be able to work collaboratively — and across specialties — to improve patient health to solve brain diseases.

Our mission also emphasizes education, especially in the training and mentoring of medical residents and students who are committed to careers in cognitive neuroscience.
