Program Effectiveness Outcomes, Student Learning Outcomes

For each goal supporting our Mission Statement, the program has established the following outcomes. The degree to which these outcomes are accomplished by the program and students determines the degree to which our goals are achieved.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Radiation Therapy Program is to educate competent radiation therapy professionals.

Goal: Students will demonstrate clinical competence

  • Students will demonstrate competence in treatment delivery,
  • Students will demonstrate competence in simulation,
  • Students will demonstrate safe radiation practice.
  • Employers will report graduates as competent in entry-level tasks
  • Graduates will report competence in entry-level tasks.

Goal: Students will demonstrate effective communication skills

  • Students will successfully demonstrate effective communication skills in the clinical setting
  • Students will demonstrate effective written communication skills
  • Students will demonstrate effective oral communication skills

Goal: Students will demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Students will develop a treatment plan using a planning computer
  • Students will use critical thinking & problem-solving skills in clinical situations
  • Students will evaluate & analyze published studies, and apply them to clinical practice
  • Graduates will demonstrate competence in problem-solving

Goal: Students will demonstrate professionalism

  • Students will demonstrate professionalism in the clinical setting
  • Graduates will demonstrate belief in continuing education
